Small Biz, Big Heart

We’re a small family business operating out of Mount Horeb, WI. We love building (saunas especially), spending time outside, and raising our kids to do the same. We’re makers, musicians, and much more.

Our journey into sauna building began in the winter of 2023. Earlier that year we often bathed in a friend’s cedar barrel sauna. Although those sessions were enjoyable, the short 6 foot tall barrel height prompted us to imagine what a bigger, roomier barrel would feel like. At that time our founder, Spencer Luedtke, was building furniture for a developer in downtown Madison. The scaled production of high design furniture sparked inspiration that soon led to the first LDB Sauna prototype. Sylvia Stangel (Spencer’s partner) had also been talking about building saunas for some time. The first few cedar barrel saunas, standing 7 feet tall, proved to be much more comfortable. These first units were built by Spencer in his 600 sq. ft. garage, but as interest increased, so did our team. In the winter of 2024 Benjamin Cameron (otherwise known as William Z Villain on Spotify), and Julio Bustos (who you can find biking long distance all around Wisconsin) joined the team. Many other friends have helped us along the way as well!

In 2024 we moved into a 3200 sq. ft. wood shop in downtown Mount Horeb. This extra space has allowed us the ability to expand our products as well. LDB Sauna will be introducing two new shed style sauna models (7×10, 7×14) in Fall of 2025. Also, Cedar Hot Tubs anyone? Stay tuned!
